A fire has broken out at Saraf House near Raj Bhavan in Dharmatala, causing panic in the area. The governor has come out on the street and is supervising the situation himself.
10 fire engines were deployed at the scene and part of the roof has already collapsed. The area is covered in black smoke, and the fire is spreading quickly.
According to the information available so far, Sharaf House houses the office of the Central Bank, and the fire is said to have started in the kitchen upstairs.
Locals claim that the flames spread within fifteen minutes and became so fierce that several parts of the roof began to collapse.
The fire has caused panic in the area, and people are being advised to stay away from the scene. The black smoke is also causing concern, and the authorities are urging people to take precautions and stay indoors if possible.
